The event was attended by Dr. Le Thanh Thuy, Deputy Head of the Training Management Department, along with the leadership of the Faculty of Social Sciences, lecturers from the Department of Literature, and a large number of students from the Literature Teacher Education and Literature Studies programs. Seven teams from seven classes across these two programs, enthusiastically mentored by their faculty advisors, gave their all and brought the audience a series of moving performances that left a lasting impression.
The "Literary Work Dramatization" round opened the contest and drew the largest number of student participants. Through carefully chosen excerpts, creative script adaptation, and expressive acting, each team brought the audience a distinct range of emotions and a fresh perspective on familiar literary works:
1. K27 – Literature Teacher Education: "The Journey Back to Self" (adapted from Vợ chồng A Phủ [A Phu and His Wife] by To Hoai)
2. K25 – High-Quality Literature Teacher Education: Molière's The Would-Be Gentleman, Act I, Scenes 3–5
3. K28A – Literature Studies: "The Vicious Cycle of a Human Life" (adapted from Chí Phèo by Nam Cao)
4. K28C – Literature Studies: "A Fated Match" (adapted from Vợ nhặt [The Wife He Picked Up] by Kim Lan)
5. K25 – Literature Teacher Education: "The Wronged Shadow" (adapted from Quan Âm Thị Kính)
6. K28B – Literature Studies: "See You Tomorrow" (adapted from Chiếc lược ngà [The Ivory Comb] by Nguyen Quang Sang)
7. K28 – Literature Teacher Education: "Starlight Amid the Heights" (adapted from Những ngôi sao xa xôi [Distant Stars] by Le Minh Khue)
Each performance carried its own distinct character and left a strong impression on the audience. Students showed remarkable creativity in choosing which works to adapt, crafting compelling dialogue, and delivering imaginative, confident performances that brought the literary works to life on stage - a way of nurturing a love of literature and deepening students' understanding of the texts themselves.
A new feature of this year's contest was the "Creating a New Ending for a Literary Work" round, in which teams drew a literary work at random and had five minutes to devise and perform an alternative ending on the spot. Working within this tight timeframe, the teams showed quick thinking and a solid understanding of the original texts, presenting logical, humane new endings that offered the audience a distinct emotional experience while staying true to the spirit of each work.
In the "Public Speaking" round, teams drew on literary works to share personal reflections and convey meaningful messages on topics of contemporary relevance:
1. K27 – Literature Teacher Education: "Literature and the Digital Heart - When AI Learns Everything Except Empathy"
2. K25 – High-Quality Literature Teacher Education: "Preparing for Graduation: Opportunities and Challenges for Literature Teacher Education Students"
3. K28 – Literature Studies A: "Social Media in the Knowledge Era: Opportunity or Mental Trap?"
4. K28 – Literature Studies C: "From the Page to Life - When Literature Never Sleeps"
5. K25 – Literature Teacher Education: "From Creating New Endings to Creating the Future: What Does Literature Teach Us?"
6. K28 – Literature Studies B: "Keeping the Flame Alive Through Every Stroke of the Pen"
7. K28 – Literature Teacher Education: "Literature - A Green Oasis in a Digital Desert"
The speeches impressed both judges and audience with their well-structured arguments, confident delivery, and thoughtful reflections, conveying deeply humane messages that connected literature with everyday life.
The contest concluded successfully. For every team, what stood out most was the unity, effort, creativity, and dedication of the student groups, which gave the evening its lasting impression.
The overall First Prize was awarded to K25 – Literature Teacher Education, whose team also received the Special Award for Most Impressive Dramatization. K25 – High-Quality Literature Teacher Education won Second Prize along with the Special Award for Most Impressive Public Speaking, while K28B – Literature Studies also received Second Prize; the remaining teams were awarded Third Prize.
The creative experiential contest not only strengthens students' capacity for literary appreciation but also builds teamwork skills, critical thinking, and communication and language competencies. Activities like this help change the perception that studying Literature is dry and academic, while opening up new career opportunities for Literature students. As education increasingly emphasizes well-rounded development, linking learning with real-world experience is becoming a growing trend. For Literature students, creativity is the bridge that helps literature step off the page and move closer to life today.
